The Biggest Work Distractions are Inside Our Head

You know that voice constantly talking (or yelling) at you, giving you directions? It narrates your day, points out problems and tells you what to think. It’s reading these words to you now. That’s the voice I’m talking about.

It will project into the future and stress about something that has yet to happen, or it will revisit the past and try to change something that has passed. Sometimes it will fixate on a memory you’d rather forget. No wonder people are stressed!

The Mindset Mastery Program will show your team how to deactivate this noise so they can focus.

The Big Workplace Distractions

The biggest distraction we have in the workplace isn't back-to-back meetings, endless emails or constant interruptions - it’s the noise in our own head. This shows up as:

Off task thoughts. When your working on one task your mind goes to another task that you’ve just finished or are yet to start.

Catastrophising or fantasising. The constant desire to stress about what could go wrong or dream about how things will be when they go right.

Not switching off. Constantly thinking of work when you should be with your family. Or waking at 3am to ruminate on a task.

Mind wandering. Your focus constantly wandering to multiple things that are just not relevant.

Sticky thoughts. The same thought that just won’t go away no matter how hard you try.

Mindset Mastery gives you the skills to quieten the voice, eliminate distractions and develop the concentration needed to get your job done.

What’s really happening

Every thought we have has an amount of ‘mental momentum’. When the thought is created, it sets off an energetic sensation within the body. The big thoughts — love, fear, anger, pride etc — are easy to detect, but the sensations are there for every other thought as well.

These sensations drive our behaviour, which in turn drive our thoughts. These thoughts then drive more sensations and the process snowballs.

When we are distracted, it is because our mind is being triggered by either conscious or unconscious sensations in the body. To increase our ability to focus requires us to deactivate the thoughts that drive the sensations. Mindset Mastery shows you how to do that.

Every Workplace Problem Boils Down to a Sensation

Sales people don’t ask for orders because of potential rejection. This is a sensation experienced as fear.

Leaders don’t follow through because they are in overwhelm. This is a sensation experienced as stress.

People don’t speak up in meetings because they don’t think they are good enough. This is a sensation experienced as Imposter Syndrome.

We’ve tried ignoring or struggling with these sensations for decades and we know it doesn’t work. The Mindset Mastery Program will give your team the tools to deactivate thoughts that cause distractions. Once they are deactivated, they are gone and can’t distract you anymore.

Mindset Mastery is a deep dive into how our brain-body system operates. This program is based in modern psychology and ancient wisdoms. It draws on disciplines such as psychology, philosophy, physics and biology to remove the mental distractions that slow us down.
